BESD: Today, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 will be a virtual learning day. Students will attend school from home and access assignments from the teacher via email/Canvas after 10:00 am.

Kindergarten Parents, This is a reminder about the opportunity to learn all about our Chinese immersion programs that we offer at golden Spike!
Observe a DLI class in action tomorrow, Friday January 5, at Golden Spike Elementary from 9:30-10:30 AM! Parents of current DLI students will be available to answer any questions you might have about the program.
There will also be an in-person parent meeting on Friday, January 5 at the Box Elder School District Office Building at 5:00 PM. You will be able to hear first-hand experiences and ask questions about the benefits of the dual language immersion programs offered in our district.
Your children had a great lesson in their kindergarten classes yesterday with our Chinese DLI teachers! Ask them what they learned! We hope that you will consider dual language immersion and hope to see you at these great events to learn more! The deadline to apply through Passport is January 15. Let us know if you need help with the application process!

Golden Spike Families, attached is the PTO's newsletter for the month of January. Thanks for everyone's support.

We would like to welcome our new counselor to Golden Spike...Mrs. Amanda Morris! She will be mainly supporting grades 1, 3, and 5. We are so glad that she is here...welcome to the Golden Spike Family, Mrs. Morris!
Here is a short message from her.
Hi! I am so excited to be joining the Golden Spike team! For the past nine years I have worked in Weber School District supporting student behavior. Prior to that I worked in Ogden School District in their junior high schools. I am looking forward to creating strong relationships with the staff, students, and guardians in our community. For fun I love to read, spend time with my family, and relax while watching romantic comedies! Please feel free to reach out to me at amanda.morris@besd.net or 435-515-5609.

From our BEHS student leadership: Box Elder High is inviting all to our community carnival! Please consider participating as this will benefit one of our own students Make-A-Wish! This year, we are raising funds to support the wish of a student in the Box Elder School district named Myklin, who suffers from cystic fibrosis. Myklin is a fun, energetic young lady with an infectious smile. You would never know she suffers from such a serious illness. We would love your support for Myklin.
-The carnival will run from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. on the night of the 11th.
- Tickets to enter will cost $5 for an individual, and $20 for a whole family.
- Games will be run by BEHS Clubs, and there will be candy and prizes at each of them.
- We will also have a visit from Santa and refreshments available.
This carnival is to support our charity drive for the Make-A-Wish organization as well as a Make-A-Wish kid from our local community. We would love to raise as much money for both as possible, so therefore are trying to get participation as high as possible.
If you would like to donate directly to Make-A-Wish, you can do so here.

Reindeer day...so fun!

Wow, Golden Spike Parents! Thank you so much for your outpouring of support for our school and your students as you soaked in the Christmas spirit at last night's Christmas program! Despite having three separate events, we could not have imagined that we would have so many families participate! We appreciate your patience and understanding as we invited families into the school for a program of this nature for the first time since the school's inception. Our students are so lucky and I hope you felt the Christmas spirit. For future events of this nature, we are looking at additional sites that will accommodate the level of support and participation that we had last night! Please share any photos...we would love to see them and share in our yearbook! Thanks again for everything you do for your students. Go Spike Golden Eagles!
