Hey Golden Spike, here is the PTO Newsletter for December. Thanks for all you do!

Some of the first graders disguised turkeys so they wouldn't be eaten on thanksgiving and wrote about their costumes. It was so fun! They are so creative! 🦃

Students sure did enjoy the first snowfall of the year! Be safe, stay warm and have a great weekend!

5th grade had so much fun creating our Balloons Over Broadway, in honor of Tony Sarg, the puppeteer who made Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade a reality.

We love using our super secret readers during SuperKids time! It makes it so fun to learn how to read!

Please join us for the Golden Spike Christmas Program. See the attached flier for details.

How fun are these gratitude tables!!! Mrs. Anderson helped our 4th and 5th grade students make 3D clay figures with all the things they are grateful for!

Remember, students are dismissed at 1:00 pm today. Breakfast and lunch will be served, however there is no preschool! Please be on time for carpool so we can send staff home to enjoy their break. We will see you back on Monday, November 27. Thanks for everything and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Interested 2-5 grade students will be participating in the Hoop Shoot today during their prep time. Wish them luck!

This information was also sent out to all preK students.

We had a great Veteran's Day assembly today. Thanks to all the families that were able to come and, most importantly, our veterans who model the great things that we want to emulate! Thanks as well to our PTO committee lead by Marissa Cook who put it all together. ❤️🤍💙

See the schedule below for our annual Turkey Trot! Parents are invited to come cheer the kids on!

Congrats to all our friends that made it onto the Gold Ticket board! We have completed a row and will be holding an activity next week! Keep earning gold tickets!!!

We recognized some great students today for October's Students of the Month. They got a certificate with the good things that they were being recognized for and a brag tag!

What a great week!!!

We had a great gold ticket activity...slime! The kids had a great time and got an extra special brag tag as well!

Don't forget to wear red on Monday! Everyone that does will earn a gold ticket. We have a special event and need a sea of red!!!
Please check your email or the website or additional information regarding costume guidelines.
Thanks!

On Tuesday, October 31, students will be allowed to celebrate Halloween and wear costumes to school if they wish. Please read and follow the below guidelines to ensure we have a fun and safe day.
-If you choose to wear a costume, it must be worn to school.
-Face Masks or Paint must not cover the whole face. We must be able to recognize students. Students may be asked to remove a mask if it is impeding their learning or is a distraction.
-Students must be able to wear costume inside, outside, to PE and other preps and be able to sit, write, and move as usual. Bulky or uncomfortable costumes that would not allow students to sit at their desk or participate normally in the day’s activities should not be worn.
-Costumes must not be too scary or inappropriate for the school environment. No blood, gore, etc…
-No props are allowed. (swords, shields, weapons, wands, etc...)
-If something is broken or lost at school the teachers and staff are not responsible.
We hope this will be a fun opportunity to look forward to and remember. We also appreciate your support as we endeavor to ensure that all students learn at high levels. Parents are welcome to join us to view our costume parade at 2:00 if they wish. Staff will be available to show you where to stand.
Any student who does not attend due to religious reasons will not be marked absent from school. If this applies to you, please call the front office and notify the secretaries at 425-515-5500.
Sincerely,
Shaylyn Ekins, Principal

Thanks for the PTO for sponsoring our red ribbon activities. Should be a fun week!

This is a reminder of the Emotional Health Access nights this week. Our school Social Workers will be available to provide mental health screenings to students in K-12th grades. Walk-in's are welcome. There will also be food and prizes available!
